The police department allows people to pay their parking tickets by donating cat food

I never really understood how people can abandon their pets. I realize that in some cases it is forced, not of their own free will, but even in this case, whenever I visit our local shelter and see all the animals waiting to find their forever homes, it really touches my heartstrings. Fortunately, many people care and devote their lives to caring for these abandoned and homeless creatures. One example is Muncie Animal Care & Services in Indiana, which helps people adopt new pets and help find new homes for abandoned animals.

They recently teamed up with the local police, as the shelter began to fill with cats and kittens. Instead of paying their parking tickets with money, the police encouraged people to make donations to the shelter to try to help them deal with the chaos.

And of course, they used social media to promote this worthy cause:

The police even said that those who are unable to drop the items off at the shelter or the police department may call a number and they would send a uniformed officer to come over to pick up the donated items.

Although the offer was for a limited time and has now ended, it is a good initiative to help needy shelters by encouraging people to donate. People on social media welcomed these efforts and hoped that more cities and towns would take up the initiative. Well, maybe someday!
