John, an American farmer, owns a large plot of land that includes his comfortable home, a vigorous orchard and a thriving vegetable garden.
Right next to his house is a chicken coop where John raises chickens, some for sale and some for his own use. This system has worked well for him over the years, making his farm productive and self-sufficient.
John is used to finding eggs scattered randomly around his property from time to time, especially near the greenhouse, where his hens like to roam. He never worried about this, as it was normal behavior for his free-range hens. However, one morning, John came across something unusual that piqued his curiosity.
Near the coop, he discovered a cluster of all-black eggs.
The chicks were identified as Ayam Cemani, a rare breed known for its all-black appearance. This unique characteristic is not only superficial, it extends to the internal organs and bones. John learned that these particular chickens were bred by his wealthy neighbor, who specialized in rare breeds. Apparently, one of the neighbor’s hens had accidentally wandered onto John’s property and laid her eggs there.
