Walking around his neighborhood, a Detroit resident noticed a dog chained up near an abandoned house. The homeowners left and instead of taking the dog with them, they left it on a chain.
The first thing the man did was to call the local animal rescue center, and its staff immediately rushed to the call. The volunteers immediately saw that the dog was very scared, it was hiding behind the wall of the house and did not want to get close to people. It was noticeable that the dog had spent some time on the chain without care and food, it looked tired and unhappy.
Despite the fright, the dog seemed to sense that people did not want to hurt it and not only allowed the volunteers to approach it, but also began to cheerfully greet them, wagging its tail. The dog whined softly, trying to believe that it had finally received help.
The chain was removed from the dog and sent the animal to the veterinarian. As expected, the clinic found that the dog was exhausted, because no one had fed it or given it water for several days. The tight chain also left its damage. The volunteers immediately started treatment and the dog accepted their care with great joy and gratitude.
At the shelter, the new tenant was named Beaker. Now it is recuperating and undergoing treatment, and volunteers are already looking for new, more responsible owners for it.
