The film veteran was married only to the late Italian producer Carlo Ponti. Together, the couple had two sons, Edoardo and Carlo Jr.
“For both of us it was love at first sight. We met at a beauty pageant in Rome when I was 16, and he was on the jury.
Despite this, she managed to travel to Hollywood for the first time, accompanied by Ponti, and although he was still a married man, Loren was happy that leaving her native country had given her the opportunity to cohabit with the “River Girl” producer.
Over the next few months, Ponti travelled from Los Angeles to Rome for work, allowing her lover to see Grant again.
