The family of actor Treat Williams have made their first public statements since his sudden and tragic death.
Treat Williams died at the age of 71 following a motorbike accident with driver Ryan Koss in Vermont.
The actor’s son Gill Williams told the judge at a hearing on Friday: ‘I forgive you and I hope you forgive yourself.
‘Thank you so much for not killing my father.’ ‘I needed to say that.’
He spoke of his father’s importance to his family by wearing his father’s jacket.
Williams’ wife Pam and daughter Ellie did not attend the hearing but wrote statements that were read aloud in court.
Pam’s statement said: ‘Our lives will never be the same, our family has been torn apart and there is a huge hole that cannot be filled’.
She added that she hoped to one day forgive Koss.
Koss pleaded guilty and said he killed Williams when he crashed his 4×4 into her motorbike.
The accident was the subject of a Vermont State Police report.
‘The accident occurred at approximately 4:53 p.m. Monday on Vermont Route 30, just north of Morse Hill Road, when a 2008 Honda Element traveling southbound attempted to turn left into a car park.
