The talented actor Dustin Hoffman, best known for his role in Rain Man, battled cancer and quietly beat it in 2013. Even after his victory, he decided to keep his recovery a secret and hardly ever told anyone about it.
After successful cancer treatment, Hoffman was ‘feeling good and healthy’, according to his press officer, Jodi Gottlieb. Thanks to early detection and surgery, the cancer was completely cured.
Hoffman was shocked to learn that she was not considered a conventionally attractive woman. She realised that women’s appearance was unduly limited by society’s expectations.
This realisation permanently altered his behaviour towards women, both in real life and on screen.
The reason for his seclusion was not made public until a few months after he directed the British comedy Quartet in 2012 and finished filming Chef in 2014, which he co-starred in with Jon Favreau and Sofia Vergara.
Hoffman had been undergoing treatment for cancer, but his representative revealed that he had chosen to keep the information private. Jodi Gottlieb informed the public that Hoffman was in good health and had fully recovered from the disease.
