There’s nothing like a mother’s love, is there? When a woman gives birth to a child, her whole life changes and the only thing that matters is the well-being of her baby. There’s nothing a mother wouldn’t do for her child, and this sad and touching story is further proof of that.
Shelby Ann Carter, a 21-year-old from Wyoming, Illinois, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in January 2017. She and her boyfriend couldn’t have been happier with the new addition to their family. Everything was perfect for these new parents.
But you know what they say. Things don’t always work out the way you want or expect them to. Unfortunately, this loving family’s life was turned upside down by a devastating tragedy.
On 30 January, mum and baby were in Shelby’s mum’s house, where they lived, when suddenly the place caught fire.
The flames spread so quickly that the whole house was engulfed in thick smoke and there was no way out.
The fire brigade rushed to the scene as quickly as possible and did their best to bring the flames under control, but unfortunately it was too late to save Shelby. She died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
