For a multitude of reasons, many of us struggle with our weight and appearance.
Despite campaigns encouraging us to accept ourselves, whatever our size, and the use of more realistic models in advertising, eating disorders affect a large number of people around the world every day.
Annie Windley is an Englishwoman from Derbyshire. After years of malnutrition, she has recovered and wants to use her story to encourage others who may find themselves in a similar situation. Windley’s heaviest weight has never been more than 29kg, or around 63lbs. Her low weight increased her risk of heart attack and caused many other medical problems.
Five years on, the 21-year-old is still struggling with her eating disorder. The Woolley Moor resident has been hospitalised several times and has undergone numerous medical interventions.
However, the young woman explains that she was able to begin her recovery process thanks to her passion for running. She even completed the Chesterfield Half Marathon last October.
Annie was diagnosed in 2012 and began her recovery process two years later.
