To everyone’s surprise, Richard launched into a deeply moving performance, eliciting an immediate standing ovation from the audience and judges.
Following his extraordinary performance, all the judges praised Richard’s unforgettable audition. Simon Cowell said, “It was special, very special. I think America is going to love you.”
Sofia Vergara added: “It was spectacular, fun. It was an incredible surprise. I think you guys are perfect to come to AGT because you made our night unforgettable.”
Howie Mandel, with characteristic humor, commented, “Maybe it’s because you guys have been doing this for 23 years, but you just cleaned house! I imagine all the kids who went to school with you will be screaming.”
While all the judges were full of praise, it was Heidi who took the cake by awarding Richard the coveted Golden Buzzer, which catapulted him straight into the live shows for Season 19.
“Richard, Richard, Richard, Richard, you blew me away,” Klum said. “We all had a great time with you on stage. I really feel something when I see you up there. That’s what I’m going to do for you, because I love you.”
