A 5-year-old prodigy plays piano for his 101-year-old grandmother, whose latest request brings tears to her eyes

Piano prodigy Ryan Wang gave a unique private concert for 101-year-old Dorothy Landry, just months after wowing audiences on “The Ellen Show” and performing at Carnegie Hall. At an intimate event organized by CBC Music, 5-year-old Ryan played “Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song” just for Dorothy Landry.
Dorothy, a fan of Ryan’s since the age of three, had difficulty enjoying his performance because of her hearing impairment. To give her a more personal experience, CBC Music organized this private performance. In a small room, Dorothy sat in her wheelchair while Ryan, holding a large teddy bear and bouncing with excitement, played next to her. Expressing his gratitude, Ryan told “Grandma Dorothy” how important it was for him to play for her, which made her smile with joy.
Dorothy, for her part, called Ryan “a very special little person” and looked forward to his future performances. She invited him to visit her after his trip to China and thanked him sincerely. This special moment highlighted the link between generations and the universal language of music.
