Christian Oliver was a German-born American actor who worked with Tom Cruise and George Clooney and had a 30-year career.
He died on Thursday with his two daughters in a plane crash off a Caribbean island.
A single-engine plane carrying Oliver (born Christian Klepser) and his daughters took off from an airport in Bequia, a small island in the country of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, at around 12:10 p.m. local time, authorities said.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said the plane, which was bound for the neighboring island of St. Lucia, experienced problems early in the flight and then crashed into the water.
Divers, fishermen and 
According to the police, 51-year-old Oliver, his daughters Annik and Madita Klepser, aged 10 and 12, and the pilot and owner of the plane, Robert Sachs, were pronounced dead at the scene.
