Recently, Oprah Winfrey’s spokesperson announced on Instagram that she would be appearing on CBS Mornings to announce her new book club choice. Unfortunately, over the weekend, the popular host fell victim to a stomach virus.
Gayle King stepped in to explain the reason for Winfrey’s absence.
In a video call posted on Gayle King’s Instagram page, Winfrey told her best friend and journalist that she “couldn’t keep enough water down to stay hydrated,” prompting her to seek treatment at the hospital.
Ms. King told viewers that Ms. Winfrey would eventually “be fine” after this health setback.
In a joint interview with The New York Times in January, Winfrey and King congratulated each other and spoke of the reasons for their strong friendship.
In January, Winfrey showed that, despite her 70 years, she is physically very active.
The video she posted on Instagram shows the media mogul running on the beach with her puppy and another woman.
She also wrote a reflective article about turning 70 the day before her birthday, published on Oprah Daily.
In it, she talks about the importance of staying fit and adds that with age comes the wisdom to choose what’s best for you.
Let’s pray for Oprah Winfrey: She’s 70 and has been hospitalized
