Little Josiah Toleafoa was on his way to Play City to celebrate his third birthday with other children when tragedy struck. The little boy was hit by a car in the parking lot of Play City, a family party venue in Chula Vista, San Diego.
According to a witness to the terrible event, Josiah’s mother sobbed hysterically as paramedics struggled to save the little boy’s life.
Unfortunately, Josiah died at Rady Children’s Hospital, so the efforts were in vain. According to authorities, the 36-year-old driver of the car apparently remained at the scene and was cooperative.
Police say it does not appear that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
She added the reason she launched the campaign, “We are doing this GoFundMe page to help pay for my sweet nephew’s funeral expenses and services for the little angel who touched so many lives in so many different ways before being called to Heaven. Any amount would help, anything.
The owner of Play City said he would donate $2,000 to Josiah’s family and the owner pledged to match that amount.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, no one has yet been arrested in connection with the accident.
