Britain’s Got Talent, like its American counterpart, has no qualms about playing on viewers’ emotions. The show held an audition for its fifteenth season in a recent episode. Nick Edwards’ performance stunned the judges, the audience and even Edwards himself, but he wasn’t on the shortlist.
Unbeknownst to Nick Edwards, his mother, two daughters and other members of the show’s crew entered the BGT stage. Edwards sits in the aisle, apparently unsure of what’s going to happen. Edwards’ mother Tracy began to explain, «Nick doesn’t know anything about it and we’re surprising him because we want him to come and sing, because he sings a beautiful song for the girls. Go ahead, Nick.
Crying, Nick Edwards leaves his spectator seat and makes his way to the stage, where he finally performs Ernie Halter’s «Daddy’s Little Girl» with great emotion.
We had the whole day planned. Being called on stage «completely shocks me», said Edwards. The singer replied, «I think I’ve lost a lot of confidence over the years,» when asked why he’d said he’d never take part in BGT. I used to sing it in the shower at home.
Simon Cowell was moved to tears by his moving performance
