Mick Jagger can’t hold back his tears: “We’re going to miss him so much” Jeff Beck, the man who redefined guitar music in the 1960s, died on Thursday at the age of 78. News of his sudden passing was shared on Twitter by close family members.“On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing,” the statement read.
Throughout his career, which spanned five decades, Jeff Beck experimented with new sounds and approaches, bringing freshness to the music world.Beck joined the Yardbirds in 1965, replacing Eric Clapton.
Of the technique, Beck told BBC Radio 2’s Johnnie Walker: “It [the technique] came about by accident.”
“We were playing bigger venues in 1964-1965 and the sound system was inadequate. So we turned it up a notch and discovered that there was feedback.”After leaving the Yardbirds, Beck released the single Hi Ho Silver Lining before forming the first incarnation of the Jeff Beck Group in early 1967. The group featured Ronnie Wood on bass and Rod Steward.Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 as a member of the Yardbirds, and again in 2009 as a solo artist.
