Remembering Laura Hillier: a wordless tribute The battle against leukemia Laura Hillier, an outstanding student at Nelson High School in Ontario, Canada, was first confronted with the challenges of leukemia at the age of 13.
Laura had a deep passion for music and theater, which resonated with all the students at her school. Although she received her twelfth-grade yearbook before her death, her loved ones felt that her farewell should reflect the essence of a tribute yearbook.
In a touching gesture, her casket was transformed into a canvas for remembrance. Family, friends, educators and classmates covered it with colorful, heartfelt messages celebrating Laura’s life and the impact she had on theirs. In honor of Laura’s favorite color, the funeral was infused with shades of purple. 
From the elegant floral arrangements to the participants’ purple attire, color permeated this solemn event, celebrating Laura’s joie de vivre. To perpetuate Laura’s legacy, donations in her name are encouraged to Coast to Coast, a noble charity dedicated to eradicating childhood cancer. 
Laura’s journey, though short, is an inspiring reminder of the beauty of life and the importance of appreciating every moment.
