Dies at 20 from bone cancer Kate Kaufling, a beloved varsity dancer, has sadly passed away from bone cancer at the age of 20. 
The University of Kentucky athletics team announced the tragic news in a press release, plunging the university community and the dance team into grief. Kate’s career is a symbol of resilience, strength and motivation. She has left a deep impression on all those who have been fortunate enough to know her. 
Kate attended the nursing program at the University of Kentucky and lit up the stage and classrooms with her presence. Many knew her for her vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment. Beyond her success in dance, Kate was a diligent student, driven by her aspiration to serve others as a nurse, inspired by the compassionate care she had received during her own health issues. 
Sadly, she lost her battle with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the age of 20. He leaves behind his loving parents and his twin sister, Abbey. The most common treatment for this type of cancer is surgery. She will always be remembered as a very special person with a heart of gold, who went out of her way to help others.
