An 80-year-old man insists every morning on bringing breakfast to his wife in the nursing home.
When asked, “Why is your wife in a nursing home?” he replies, “She has Alzheimer’s disease.”
Then they ask him, “Would your wife worry if one day you didn’t come to bring her breakfast?” and he replies, “She doesn’t remember, she doesn’t even know who I am, she hasn’t recognized me for five years.”
Surprised, a nurse asks him, “Why do you bring breakfast to your wife every morning if she doesn’t even recognize you?” The man smiles, looks her in the eyes, and then says, “She may not know who I am, but I know who she is.”
