Emergency brain surgery: Michael Strahan’s daughter reveals she was left screaming in agony
Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella has revealed she was in immense pain after undergoing a last-minute brain operation and spending four days in A&E with a high fever as part of her battle with cancer.
Yesterday, Isabella told how she had returned to hospital after a “hard setback”, having recently started chemotherapy treatment. She explained that on one of her visits, doctors had told her that she would have to go back under the knife to drain the fluid that was leaking from her head.
Last month, Isabella, 19, broke down in tears as she spoke about her diagnosis of medulloblastoma – a rare type of brain cancer – during an episode of the show, explaining that she had undergone emergency surgery after doctors discovered a tumor “bigger than a golf ball” growing in the back of her brain.
The 19-year-old appeared vulnerable in front of viewers and spoke of her fears before the operation.
I’m very nervous. I’m especially nervous because they’re not touching my brain, it’s not that deep…but I’m curious about what the recovery will be like.”
Isabella explained that the doctors would open the scar to drain the fluid.
