Chevel Shepherd, 16, was born and raised in the small town of Farmington, New Mexico.
Although only five foot seven, this little teenager has a larger-than-life voice. Her blind audition for the 15th season of The Voice surprised everyone by introducing her to the world for the first time. Chevel’s blind audition song was a 2010 hit by “The Band Perry”.
At first, Chevel’s voice was visibly shaking with nervousness, but it was clear that she had talent. Kelly Clarkson, the coach, was the first to notice. Kelly slams the door and swivels her chair a few lines into the song. As Chevel’s naturally husky voice develops, judge Blake Shelton decides that he too wants to be a part of this talent.
The last two judges sit in their chairs, mulling over their decision, while Chevel grows in confidence and her voice fills the auditorium. J What an adventure for this dynamic teenager! Chevel had this to say about her appearance on The Voice shortly after winning: “It’s crazy to have had this opportunity. Not many teenagers, not many 16-year-olds, can get up on stage.
