It is unbelievable: A tenant becomes a landlord

Have you ever wanted to own the home you rent? That dream has come true for 75-year-old Jane Sayner of St. Albans, Melbourne. When John Perrett died in September 2020, Jane wasn’t sure what the future would hold. She worried that her lease would be terminated or that she would have to pay a higher rent to a new landlord. As it turned out, John Perrett was an extraordinary person. After receiving a kidney transplant, he amassed an enormous fortune. But instead of keeping it all for himself, he chose to make a difference. John donated a whopping A$18.6 million to the Nephrology Department at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He also bequeathed one of his apartments to the hospital, which was sold for A$400,000.Although Jane was saddened by the death of her landlord, she was also incredibly relieved to have a place to call her own. Over the years, she has shown her love for the apartment by tending the garden and planting beautiful flowers. To this day, her efforts continue to flourish and brighten her life. This touching story is a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on another’s life. Jane’s story reminds us that unexpected blessings can happen to us, even in old age.
