Authorities announced this week that the car of a woman who disappeared 23 years ago with her daughter in Arkansas contained human remains.Adventures with Purpose, a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving unsolved cases nationwide, discovered Samantha Jean Hopper’s car Tuesday in five feet of water, according to a release from the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.The philanthropic group found the car while it was three feet underwater. According to police, the human remains contained in the car will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for DNA testing.
The Pope County Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to the families of Samantha Hopper and Courtney Holt and expressed its gratitude for playing even a small role in solving this 23-year-old case.Dezarea Hopper, Samantha Hopper’s daughter, stated on a memorial page that her mother was nine months pregnant at the time of her disappearance. Dezarea’s brother was about two years old at the time. According to Dezarea, the discovery of their bodies was “a relief”.
Adventures with Purpose issued a statement saying that Samantha and her daughter had been brought home.
