A ski resort vacation sounds like a relaxing getaway, right? Well, not if you’re stuck for hours in the middle of the night, suspended in a cable car. Then it becomes a nightmare.
One woman was stuck all night on a gondola lift at a ski resort in Lake Tahoe, California. She told KCRA that she screamed in desperation until her voice was gone.
Monica Laso had gone skiing with friends and had no idea she would find herself stuck in mid-air, suspended in a gondola in the middle of the night. By early afternoon, Laso was too tired to continue skiing the slope. She alerted an employee who guided her to the gondola lift. She boarded at 4:58 p.m. and the gondola stopped around 5 p.m., a few minutes after she entered.
Heavenly Mountain Resort vice president and chief operating officer Tom Fortune told CNN, “The safety and well-being of our guests is our top priority at Heavenly Mountain Resort. We are investigating this situation with the utmost seriousness.”
Fortunately, the person only suffered from exposure to the cold (the region had a low of 23 degrees Fahrenheit Thursday night), but if he hadn’t been found in the morning, who knows what might have happened?
