There are songs that uplift the listener. There are songs that depress.
“Hallelujah” is an example of them for many. It’s wonderful.
While many different artists have performed it over the years, one performance in particular stands out.
In 2016, Kaylee Rogers performed on stage with her classmates from her school in Northern Ireland.
She led the ensemble in a Christmas rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ that went viral on the internet, with a high-pitched, powerful voice.
But the performance is much more complex than it first appears.
When Kaylee was 10, she was quite shy and rarely spoke in class, but something about the song brought her out of her shell.
The school’s head teacher told BBC Newsbeat:
‘She used to be a very reserved child, but she opens up when she sings.”
At the Christmas pageant, Kaylee and her classmates performed “Hallelujah.” She was the lead singer and the choir backed her up.
Many people who saw this movie felt they needed tissues after watching it.
Another commenter said:
“Every time I watch this I cry. You give me hope and courage for my two autistic children.” Greetings from God
