Saying goodbye to our pets can undoubtedly be one of the most painful experiences in life, and one of the last ways to thank them for giving us so much love is to stay with them until the end. Unfortunately, many people end up abandoning them to their fate, no matter how many years they have lived together with people.

That’s why this retired nurse decided to create a dog hospice, where she will make sure that they receive the necessary care in the last days.

Nicola Coyle created a hospice project for dogs “Gray Muzzle”, where she sheltered abandoned dogs because they are old or sick. She runs this hospice from her own home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire (England).

Grey Muzzle Dog Hospice offers steaks and ice cream for dogs. According to the Bored Panda, Nicola even takes them with her to enjoy various places like McDonald’s.

The former nurse said in an interview with Metro:

“We only accept them if the vet says they have less than six months to live, so we pay special attention to end-of-life care. I think the longest I’ve had is about a year, and the shortest is about two weeks.”

Since Nicola Coyle doesn’t know exactly when the rescued dogs celebrate their birthdays, Nicola makes sure everyone has a birthday and takes them to the beach or gives them a great food to celebrate.

A woman spends about 600 euros on each dog she takes care of.

She maintains a dog shelter with her own money and donations from people who love animals.

Although Nicola has been helping these animals for several months, it is very difficult for her to say goodbye to them.

No matter how difficult it is to find out that we are about to lose our pets, this should not be an excuse to abandon them to their fate, on the contrary, it should be an excuse to treat them with more love and devotion.
