A woman creates a chair that allows needy pets to sit next to you while you work.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have been working from home. It seems like everyone has a home office these days, and employers allow for a lot of flexibility when it comes to location.

For many people working at home, this allows them to spend more time with their pets. Naturally, our furry friends are so happy to see us at home and don’t want to leave us for a minute. While this is great, it can also be problematic.

It’s hard to focus on work, answer a Zoom call, or type correctly when a dog or cat is sitting in your lap and demanding attention. Even if they are still and asleep, it’s hard because the movement can wake them up. Simone Giertz is someone who knows this all too well.

Giertz is a Swedish inventor and YouTuber, and rather than sit by while her dog pestered her with neediness and love, she decided to do something about it. Giertz created a desk chair for needy pets, so pets can comfortably sit by their owners while they work.

As she explained, “My dog would really prefer it if I turned myself into a dog bed. Since I’m not too keen on that project, I built her a chair instead.”

She first shared her concept on Twitter, saying, “I built a chair for needy pets that always want to sit next to you.”

Many people responded to this concept and shared photos of them trying to work from home with pets.

The chair has a ladder that allows pets to easily reach the part of the chair intended for them.

The chair has plenty of space for a small pet to curl up next to its owner. Giertz also shared the full process of creating the chair on YouTube.

Check it out for yourself in the video below:

The chair was first shared on May 30th, but some people speculate it could be an April Fools joke. It got such a positive response from the community, hopefully it was made in earnest!

What do you think of the chair for needy pets? Could you use one for your home office? Let us know!
